{The green dresser...}

...makes me very happy! I'm not going to lie, I was very afraid of it at first. But once we got everything put together and situated I lurved it! :) This is going to also double as her changing table. Scootie put the window seat together today and the jury's still out on it. It's a good idea, but maybe not for this room. We'll see.
With all this done, all we're waiting on is a baybay to put in the room!

{first signs of spring}

I looked out my window and saw this sweet springtime surprise! We have daffodils scattered along the fence line of our back yard and I CAN. NOT. WAIT. for them to be in full bloom! Hurry up spring! We miss you!

{Disclaimer}

The following house pictures were taken with my phone. My camera battery died...6 months ago, and Chad's camera is somewhere that only he knows about and apparently I should've asked about...before he started playing video games.

{The Master Suh-weet}

Our master bedroom! **Note-since we've gotten new carpet, the dogs have been sleeping in the den. For real! They have!

This is the view from our den.

Our bed...and Kwang, acting like she owns the place or something. **Side Note- Kwang lost her collar, and when Kwang looses her collar, she turns into a feral cat. This is right after she got done attacking a milk cap on the bed. She's obviously very tired.
*Rolls eyes*

Our little sitting area and our bathroom. The rocking chair was a HOT MESS when I bought it for $4.00. A little lurve and BAM! I turned it into this! Not to toot my own horn, but I reupholstered it myself. Boo. Yah.

My dresser, that I luuurve.

My dresser again, because I really do lurve it, and the door to the hallway.

Gross picture, but Chad's manly wardrobe and the door to the laundry room.

And because it's DRASTICALLY changed too, the hallway. We are going to TRY to stencil the floor in a harlequin print. It's definately going to get the first coat of brown paint this weekend. We'll see how far we get after that. We also have a GORG church pew that will be making it's way up from the basement this weekend. She'll be sittin' pretty on the right wall.

{Ava Kate's Room}

This is our sweet little girl's room! We still have some furniture to move in this weekend. Nasty weather and painting don't go together.

This is AK's room looking in from the hallway. We have an UBER cute window seat for under the window...duh...and a cute lamp to go beside it. The window seat is going to be green! For all of you gagging, it's a very nice green!

Here we have a nice blank wall. Kidding! We planned on putting the dresser (also GREEN) here, but seeing as how this room boasts only two electrical sockets, we're putting the crib here since we need a socket for the monitor. And her little stroller and car seat, all ready to go!

Door to the hallway and a refurbished kitchen hutch I got a million Christmases ago. Some of her little clothes are in there right now, but it's going to hold diapers and stuff like that. It's hot pink on the inside, btw! The stripe at the bottom is still blue, because I forgot about it. Also, the door to the GBR.

Ava Kate's crib! The green dresser is going here, actually. Her crib bumper matches the curtains and it's being monogrammed as we speak! My sweet little girl isn't ever going to forget her name, because it's stitched on EVERYTHING!

Close up of her bedding.

If you're lucky, by this weekend, I'll have pictures of everything else that's supposed to go in her room!

{Guestroom}

FINALLY! The guest bedroom!!

This is looking in the door from the 'formal living room'. Yes, we're that snobby. :)

The bed.

Vanity and the door into the FLR.

Dresser from the DUMP! Thanks to Memaw and Papa Bush for fixing it up for me! And the door to Ava Kate's room.

The fireplace. And Chad's decorating skills (i.e. let's pile as much stuff up there and see if Anna says anything. I did.). Also note the golden unicorn. Again, we're just that snobby.

Shared closet between GBR and AKR. A little chair I WON! And a July, 1946 pinup girl. She's pretty cute!

Of course, it's not all the way finished. I ordered some yellow pillows from Target and I still have to make my LOVE sign for over the mantle. I also need to, um, re-accessorize the mantle.

{Update}

I totally wanted to have this day-after-the-carpet blog loaded with tons of before and after pictures and everything, but after working (HARD) for the past few weeks on getting the 3 bedrooms ready for carpet, I'm beat. And my house is still a mess. I even misplaced a load of laundry. WHO DOES THAT? It's not in the dryer, piled on the dresser, bed OR couch. So, knowing my limits, I'm taking the day(s?) off to do absolutely nothing. Except wondering where our underwear went. :) Seriously, where did it GO?

{final countdown}

In more ways than one! First, we have until MONDAY to get all of the bedrooms done and cleared out because we're finally getting carpet. Hallelujah! Second, I only have SEVEN more weeks until 'D-day'. EEK! It's gettin' real, y'all! I'd write about being pregnant more, but seriously, it's been very uneventful these last few months. Ava Kate is measuring on schedule, I'm measuring on schedule, weight gain is on track, (another Hallelujah!) blood pressure is excellent, and no weird cravings. I just crave food, but who am I kidding, I craved food before I was pregnant! :) There will be TONS of pictures and updates once she's here! Plus, we're in a time crunch to finish this house FOR Ava Kate. Who wants their daughter asking why there's a mattress set in the dining room and why she doesn't have real floors in her room like her other friends... :)
I'm leaving you with the guest room! We're DONE-ZO with everything except the fireplace. We've been tossing around a few ideas on what to do with it and all of them require the help of a qualified professional, i.e., my granddaddy. So it will get done this weekend! Overall, I'm preeeetty please with how the room is turning out. My only beef: Heavy Goose. It dried bluer than I thought, but according to my mom and Chad (who I'm sure just doesn't want to paint again) everything still matches and will look good. We'll see...

The fireplace and mantle

The windows in the back of the room

Curtains, Heavy Goose and comforter
Haha, I'd take pictures of the WHOLE room but we still have a table, bookshelf and a million books stacked in the middle. :) We'll unveil ALL of the bedrooms Monday.
**BIG THANK YOU to Forest, Jamie's beau, for priming all of the guest room, caulking all of the guest room and making life lots easier on us!

{inspiration}

Quick little glance at what I want to do in the guest bedroom. I officially LURVE gray and yellow. I already have the bedspread and curtains for the room AND a color picked out! Heavy Goose by Martha Stewart. Swoon.

I'd like this to go over the mantle:

*picture from Just a Girl

I think I want to make the love sign a weathered white instead of the nekkid wood.

This is what I'd like the bed to look like.

*picture from Classy Clutter. They even give a tutorial on how to make the flower pillow! Since the bedding is gray, I'm going to use a lot of yellow pillows. Squeal! I'm so excited I really can't stand it!
We have a black, vintage, iron bed that we're using in the room which I think will look very nice.
The room looks very good in my head. We'll see how it turns out!!

{on a roll}

I have been on a ROLL this week, people! The guest bedroom is well on it's way to being DONE! The carpet is pulled up, the walls are primed and the fireplace is halfway primed. I ran out of primer. Curses. Let's take a look at the progress!
Before:
I promise this is all of the same room. The angles are weird.

With the fireplace. The chunky mantle met a tragic end when the train jarred it off the wall. It was held up by 3 teeeeenie little nails. Also we live by a train track. One didn't come through our house.

All cleaned out and NO CARPET!! Hallelujah! You might remember this mantle from the baby room.

And the halfway painted fireplace.
All we have left to do is prime the beadboard, trim and molding, paint the beadboard, trim and molding, paint the walls, and GET NEW FLOORS!! This is the last room we have to do for a while! Also, thanks to Big Mom and Big Dad for all their help!
P.S. The pictures with the black border are from my phone and I reeeeally like how that looks! I wonder if my camera pictures can have that too??

{snow pictures}

Looking out my front door
Welcome to Little Mountain, Y'all!

Our humble abode

Hi Scootie!

These are from my phone, so they're a little blurry. I also tried to take pictures of the dogs, but...
Hope you enjoyed the snow as much as we did!

{blizzard of '11}

When you live in Little Mountain, South Carolina, snow is a pretty big deal. And please make sure you buy milk and bread. I don't know why. JUST DO IT!

Right now, as I type, it is blizzarding at my house. On top of the SIX inches we got overnight. It's crazy!!

Isabelle and Gracie LURVE the snow. Olive HATES it. She is not a snow terrier. The snow is so deep it comes up past her belly! Haha and Gracie is a snow plow. She doesn't care how much snow she snorts up her nose. She just has to run as fast as she can with her nose down in the snow. She also loves to munch on snow balls. Isabelle, being the sophisticated lady she is, loves to play ball in the snow but shakes her nose and the ball off to get all the snow fluff off.

Snow pictures next!!

{the transformation}

We have been working pretty much non-stop on the bedrooms, especially the baby's room. We've also made pretty good progress! Our bedroom is waiting on painted baseboards and carpet, Ava Kate's room is waiting on carpet and the guest bedroom is waiting, um, on everything. Ok, not everything. Chad did replace the light socket and switch plate. Check. You've already seen our bedroom, so here are a few pictures of Ava Kate's room! Remember this is just befores and durings. No afters til we're 100% done!

Oh! Hi Scootie!

This was behind the mantle, but don't worry we fixed it!

See?!

Hopefully in the next few weeks I can unveil our guest bedroom!

{befores and halfway afters}

On today's episode of This Old House...kidding! I just wanted to show you a sneak peak of how far our bedroom has come since we moved in a year ago...umm...closer to two years ago, but really who's keeping score?? Actually our whole house has come a looooong way since we moved in. I love, love, love our house and wouldn't trade it for the world, but fixing up a house is a lot of work and money and time. But it's coming together beautifully!

This is before.

This is another before where you can at least tell it's a bedroom. And btw, I tried to find shots taken in the same corner of the room.

Aaaand the halfway afters! We put beadboard over the wood panelling, painted all of the moulding, doors, window and door trim and the ceiling. I hate these pictures were taken at night. It really doesn't do the color (Zen by Behr) justice. It looks almost green in these pictures but is really a peaceful blue. All we have left to do is the baseboards and new flooring! We're waiting and doing all three bedroom floors at the same time so we have to get done with the nursery and the front bedroom before we can start ripping up this carpet. Hopefully this will be before Christmas! We have on wall left to do in Weavus's room before we can paint, but all of the front bedroom. It's going to happen! Soon!

P.S. We do have more bedroom furniture. The big pieces are hanging out in the hallway waiting on new floors! We don't have any art for the walls. Suggestions?
